Today is a brand new Monday!

I love Mondays!

I realize that I’m a minority in my affection for what I consider the true beginning of each week, but being different has never bothered me in the least.  As a small child, I was once mesmerized by a summer parade and promptly decided that I wanted to grow up to be a firetruck.  Not a firefighter – a huge, red, noisy fire TRUCK.  And, frankly, I’m still disappointed that sweet little childhood dream hasn’t come to fruition.  Yet.

My friends from high school will probably remember the bells I constantly wore on my sneakers or the day I had a dress rehearsal for my role in “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” as Fairy #4 (or maybe it was #5) and wore my mid-back length hair teased straight up and spray painted like a barber pole to all my afternoon classes.  I was one of the few girls who competed in a Junior Miss scholarship competition who was also heavily involved in Air Force Jr. R.O.T.C.  and there’s not exactly a lot of female freight pilots out there either, currently employed as such or otherwise.

I also love change.  I excel at starting projects, on diving right in, getting something done and then starting something entirely different.  However, along those same lines, I have difficulty following through if an enterprise begins to take too long to complete.  I’m easily bored and although I need order (chaos tends to wear me out), too much structure and routine is stifling.  I thrive on new beginnings, which is why I hold Mondays so dear.

Mondays are days of new beginnings, new adventures, new opportunities.  Mondays are ripe with the delicate promise of change, productivity and success.  Fridays, on the other hand, are days of endings.  Fridays bring satisfaction, fulfillment and resolution to my week so that Saturday and Sunday can provide the means for me to replenish my commitment to embark upon each Monday’s exciting new quest.

So what glorious undertaking will this sensational new day offer me?  Who knows?  But I’m definitely ready for something new, Monday, so don’t let me down.  I still haven’t had the chance to be a firetruck, you know.
